All eyes were on Price when he took the mound Thursday night. It was his first start since Fortnite gate. While the list of excuses grew longer and longer, Price gave everyone a reason to stop talking. Or did he?
We never know which Price we are going to get. Thursday night we saw vintage Price. He allowed two runs, five hits and struck out eight batters… All in ninety-five pitches. I’m not sure what more you could’ve asked for. The curveball has caused some problems for Price in the past. Last night he threw a single curveball.
Going all nine innings wears you out. That is a lot of work. Will we see more problems rise to the surface in the next day or two? Price made it very clear that the issue is in the wrist and not the shoulder or elbow. How can he make sure the problems don’t escalate. You’re going to have people say there’s no injury at all and he was too scared to go against the Yankees. Odds are he’s going to have to face the Yankees again. It’s a waiting game.
Is this the turning point for Price? Are we going to see more consistency without excuses? Is it fair for fans to get their hopes up? There are more questions than answers at this point. Just like always, we’re going to see how his next outing goes.
