Allow me to reintroduce myself

It’s been a while. I haven’t published a piece on this site in a year and a half. I’ve still been writing for places like The Win Column and Offside News, but haven’t had much to say on my own. That’s a crazy thing to say since I always have an opinion.

I’ve hosted the Locked On Flames Podcast since February of 2020. It’s a daily show where I discuss the ins and outs of the Calgary Flames and the happenings of the organization. It has been a whirlwind of an experience. From watching their playoff stint in the bubble to closing out the season at the Saddledome, there have been so many memories made along the way.

Something that will always stick with me is the 2021-22 season. If you follow me anywhere online, you know  I talk about it a lot. Sometimes the unexpected success tastes better. It was a tough offseason but the memories of Johnny Gaudreau’s OT winner against the Dallas Stars tend to drown that out.

In all seriousness, I never expected a random city in Alberta to become special to me. The friends I’ve made along the way have made staying up until 2 am on work nights very well worth the 3-0 losses. There’s something really nice about always being the underdog, but at some point… It’s going to shift into dominance.

When is that? I don’t know. Only time ( and Craig Conroy’s competence will tell.)

My blog started off as a place for me to write about anything and everything. I wrote about baseball, hockey, pop culture and bits of my life. I want to return to that. Not that reporting doesn’t feel authentic but part of me misses laying it all out in a stream of consciousness for other fans to consume.

The sports journalism landscape has drastically shifted over the last five years. I don’t find myself wanting to conform even if it means missing out on this and that. I’d rather provide insight and analysis on something I am passionate about rather than a clickbait ragebating story.

Authenticity matters most.

In the meantime, I will be writing about the Calgary Flames, Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox and anything else that comes to mind. I look forward to returning to my little corner of the internet where it all started.
