Red Sox Fire Alex Cora & Possible Repercussions

Just before 7:30pm on Tuesday evening, the Red Sox announced the firing of manager Alex Cora.

So, what does this mean for the Red Sox? They fire their President of Baseball Operations and manager in a matter of months. Cutting payroll to avoid luxury tax but blaming media for pushing that narrative when they said it themselves.

It’s utter chaos. This is what I imagine the Red Sox front office looks like right now:

Alex Cora has been accused of being heavily involved in cheating during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

If Pete Rose was banned for gambling, Alex Cora could easily be banned for this. Both teams he worked for won titles those years. Seems a bit of an unfair advantage to me.

Replacements?

Dustin Pedroia is not your guy. He needs to figure himself out and officially retire before stepping up as a manager.

Jason Varitek seems like a very popular name. He’s heavily involved with the organization and knows the players. Might as well try it out. Not like it can get much worse than last season.

The Red Sox have every reason to trade whoever for whatever and start with a clean slate. It’s time to rebuild this organization from the ground up.
