Worst Bruin Acquisitions of the Decade

It’s time for another cliche decade wrap up post! Let’s talk about some of the worst Boston Bruins acquisitions of the decade.

I’m not sure what Don Sweeney was doing here. It’s one of the few times the Bruins General Manager left Bruins fans scratching their heads.

He earned 3 points in 52 games. That one goal and 83 penalty minutes were worth a third round pick.

Extending Jimmy Hayes

This is a time that most Bruins fans would like to forget. I can see why this was thought to be a good idea. Hayes put up 29 points ( 13G 16A ) in his first year with the black and gold. Why not give the hometown kid another chance? Well, the three year extension DID NOT work. Jimmy Hayes stunk like spoiled milk. The Bruins ended up waiving him with the purpose of buying him out.

This is for contractual purposes only.$6 million for five years. It doesn’t make sense. That’s not even half a million dollars less than Brad Marchand. All that money tied up in a bottom six player who you can’t trade for a bag of pucks when you’re in desperate need for David Krejci’s wing. I’ll put my soapbox away for this one because you’ve heard it all before.
