The Boston Bruins stomped all over the New York Rangers, Wednesday evening. David Pastrnak put on a performance with a hat trick of his own. The Bruins ran away with a 6-3 win at the Garden.
This game was a special one. You see, my best friend took me to this game as a birthday present! It was her very first game and she was very excited. To be honest, I didn’t know what to expect. It’s late in the season against a not so great team. The Bruins could’ve played lazy or played the way that they did.
Walking into TD Garden is always an experience. You see fans from all walks of life. You’ve got the classic Marchy and Bergy jerseys, some eccentric fans sprinkled in, kids who definitely spend every waking moment on the ice, and casual fans who are there for a good time. I was a kid in a candy shop last night. I could feel my heart racing and the smile widening as I walked down to the ice before warm ups. It’s hard not to stare. I find myself in complete awe of it all. I turned to Evelyn and pointed to the ninth floor. “I’m gonna be sitting up there someday. Just you wait.” It’s different from the feeling I get when I see Fenway. I could cry every time I see that beautiful field. My cheeks hurt from smiling within a few minutes.
Warm ups started and I didn’t realize I was on the Rangers side. I guess I got a little too caught up in the moment. I told Evelyn to watch out for pucks. Well, never in a million years did I think a puck would come our way. Harvard’s own, Jimmy Vesey tossed me a puck. It was cool. I felt like I’d just unwrapped the coolest gift under the Christmas tree. Sure it wasn’t from DeBrusk or Chuckie but I got a puck!
Sitting in the balcony is an experience. You never know who you might end up near. Last night was no exception. We were sandwiched between college aged degenerates and a father who brought his son to his very first game. It was an interesting dynamic between both parties.
Back to the game.
The highlight of the night was Pasta scoring a hat trick. I’ve been going to games since I was a kid and had never witnessed such a thing! Meanwhile, Evelyn goes to her first game and gets one!

Patrice Bergeron fought Lias Andersson last night. Evelyn was living for it. To be fair, everyone was living for it. You know you’ve messed up when Patrice is fighting. The Rangers were quite a chirpy team considering how bad they are.. Evelyn’s reaction was priceless.

Overall it was a fantastic experience. The Bruins played one hell of a game and won! Watching Evelyn get into the game and cheer along after every goal was exciting. I was happy to see her enjoy something that brings me so much joy.I really appreciated how much she loved the game. I hope that we both get to share a lot more memories at future Bruins games!
