Winter Weekend is the perfect way to break up the long and miserable offseason. It’s the perfect excuse to get out of town for a weekend and catch up with your baseball friends. This year was a little more special. If you haven’t heard, the Red Sox won the World Series. There was a parade and everything. Winter Weekend was a way for the fans to really celebrate the past season.
This was my second year attending the convention. I knew it was going to be fun. While it was kid oriented, there was still enough for us big kids to do. I brought Jess along with me. She’s a football fan but she knows enough about baseball and I figured she would have fun. Originally, I didn’t know how she’d react when I told her it was held on AFC Championship weekend. I promised to get her home well before the game. She was a saint and agreed. We’d gone to a few games together and we share the same Section 10 friends so it’s not like she wouldn’t know anyone.
We met up with our friends at breakfast and headed to our autograph and photo session right after. All of us were joking saying we’d get the no name guys. After all, that’s what happened last year. So when we got in the room and saw Matt Barnes and Sandy Leon, it was a breath of fresh air.

We look like the Cingular Wireless bars.
Look at us, hanging out with World Series Champs in our Section 10 shirts! We look like proper fangirls.
Later on, we met up with some more friends and headed to the fan fest ballroom. To be completely honest, I didn’t take many pictures this year. I was so caught up in the moment. This is truly the only picture that matters.
Yes, that’s me with my favorite athlete in the entire world, Rick Porcello. I turned around and showed him my jersey. His face lit up like a Christmas tree. Jess got a picture of it but he moved at the last second so you really couldn’t tell what he was doing. Anyways, this was the highlight of my weekend.

We hung around for a little bit to listen to Rick and World Series MVP, Steve Pearce talk about their season.

Wally was a huge fan of our shirts. He’s a big Section 10 guy in case you didn’t know.

Speaking of Section 10! I got to catch up with Jared Carrabis. Jared is one of the writers I’ve look up to. It’s always a pleasure.

The Jesscast and Steve Perrault! Steve is another huge reason why Jess and I have a podcast. His advice on the tech side of stuff was a blessing.

Ladies and gents this is the moment you’ve waited for. Sorry if you didn’t get the Greatest Showman reference. I love John Feitelberg. That’s all.
It was so refreshing to be around baseball again. My heart was full. I missed everyone and everything about baseball so much. Only a few more weeks until pitchers and catchers report!
