Weren’t we all a little nervous going into this season? A rookie manager taking over a team that definitely had some kinks to work out… We had potential stars coming off of injuries and a veteran whose future seemed uncertain. JD decided he wanted to sign here and people were nervous. What would he actually bring to the table? It’s kind of funny looking back on it.
Monday night, the Sox beat the Orioles, 6-2, making that the 106 win of the season. If you weren’t aware, that’s a new franchise record! The original franchise record was 105, set back in 1912. 106 years for a 106 wins. Ironic, huh?
Nathan Eovaldi snagged the W and had a career high ten strikeouts. He’s been working with baseball legend, Pedro Martinez to perfect his pitches. He mentioned that he talks to Martinez after every outing, regardless of the outcome. Will Pedro’s guidance help Eovaldi through the postseason?
Mookie Betts was doing Mookie Betts things. He launched a two run homer in the bottom of the second. He just keeps making a stronger stronger case for MVP.
Alex Cora has had a strong first year as a manager. He’s enforced the team mentality. It’s about winning but you can’t win if you’re not having fun. Does it help that he’s a young guy who once played in Boston? I’m sure. I’d like to believe he’ll manage here for quite some time.
There are only five games left of the regular season. I’m two weeks, we’ll be marching into the ALDS. Get yourselves ready for another year, of October baseball.
