Ulta Does Sell Used Makeup

I happened to be scrolling through Instagram this morning when I saw Ulta replying to a customer. Their statement regarding the current controversy is laughable. If you work or worked at Ulta, you know this statement is false.

I worked for Ulta for about a year. Nine of those months were spent as a retail associate and lead cashier. The last three months were spent as a guest coordinator. I’m not gonna sit here and say I hated my job or the people I worked with. My coworkers were like family. I miss the dearly and mean no disrespect by posting this.

Ulta has a “strict” return policy. I use the word strict loosely because there was a chance someone was going to override it.

If a product looked barely used it was going back out on the shelf. It’d be wiped down and placed right back in line. Lip and eye products were always damaged out. Ulta making a statement saying they have a clear policy about not selling used makeup is laughable.

I’m not going to sit here and blame my managers for this policy. They were only enforcing it. There were numbers that needed to be met and putting used makeup back out on the shelves helped reach those numbers.

If there was one policy more ridiculous than their point system, it’s this. You’re really so concerned with “shrink” numbers that you’re willing to resell makeup? Morals check to Booling Brook Illinois, please! If you don’t want to risk getting used makeup, buy directly from the brand’s website.
