Late Season Injuries Hit The Celtics Hard

The Boston Celtics have looked like a championship team for the majority of this season. There has been ups and downs but never anything that made me question their legitimacy. Injuries have struck the locker room.

It was like the domino effect. Jaylen Brown went down, everyone else followed. Watching the injuries pour in was like rubbing salt in a wound. The Celtics are so close to the playoffs and can not afford to slack off. Obviously these are all tough losses. It’s not easy watching your best guys go down, especially this late in the season. Not having Marcus Smart is really unfortunate. He’s there when you need him. He’s able to come through in those final moments. Losing guys like Kyrie and Daniel Theis is tough. They’re both able to put up points and get you what you need.

What does this mean for the playoffs? Does this put a stop on the potential deep run? This team is gonna have to adjust. Sadly, it’s not just one injury they’re working with. There’s several key players out for indefinite amounts of times. Brad Stevens is going to have to whip up some magical plan to fill the holes. This team needs to be healthy and well rested if they want to go anywhere. You can’t expect to win when you don’t have the key components that lead to the wins. I believe that this team has a decent bench and enough chemistry to carry themselves to a decent run.

Indefinite doesn’t mean forever. There’s no time table for their return. Maybe it’ll be a week. Maybe it’ll be a month. Sadly, I can’t look into a crystal ball and figure this all out. It’s a waiting game. In the mean time, the rest of the team is going to learn to adjust until their teammates are healthy.
